NHCRWA Board Votes to Reduce Water Rates
At its January 9, 2023, Regular Board Meeting, the Board of Directors of the North Harris County Regional Water Authority (NHCRWA) voted to reduce water rates. The Board reduced surface water rates from $5.05 to $4.55 per 1,000 gallons and groundwater pumpage fees from $4.60 to $4.10 per 1,000 gallons. Rain Events and Storm Sewer System
Over the last couple of weeks our District has experienced serve rain events resulting in street flooding. The entirety of the storm sewer system is designed to handle a 2-year event. Residents of Northwest Harris County MUD No. 5, Best Trash is the current trash and recycle provider. HAYDEN LAKES, WILDWOOD at OAKCREST N. and OAKCREST have curbside trash collection on Monday and Thursday with once weekly curbside recycle collection on Monday. Water Supply Facility
BGE Inc. is a nation-wide consulting firm, based in Houston since its founding in 1975. In 2019, BGE was engaged as the district engineer for NW Harris County MUD 5 to assist with water, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer infrastructure needs. Parks and Trails Update
As the Landscape Architect for NW Harris County MUD 5, Clark Condon has been working on developing an extensive trails system throughout the District. In April of this year, the District held the grand opening for over 5 miles of the first phase of trails that connect several neighborhoods within the District. The trail system includes pedestrian bridges, trail nodes and wayfinding signage. Trails utilize existing corridors including street rights-of-ways, utility easements and drainage-ways. [...]
Update: Drought & Water Restrictions
Due to drought related heavy irrigation usage during early morning hours, combined with the usual surge in water demand during that time, the voluntary water restrictions in NW Harris County MUD 5 are expected to continue through mid-September. Please Reduce Water Usage
Voluntary water restrictions are still in effect for NW Harris County MUD 5 residents. Due to rapidly increasing irrigation usage, the District is still experiencing difficulties keeping up with peak water demand during early morning hours. Please consider adjusting your irrigation system controller to avoid watering between 4:00 AM and 8:00 AM. Mandatory water restrictions may be imposed it demand is not reduced.

Voluntary Water Restrictions
NW MUD 5 is currently experiencing difficulties keeping up with peak water demand during the early morning hours on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays – primarily due to increased irrigation demand. The District is implementing “Voluntary Water Restrictions”. Attached is the District’s Defined Irrigation Schedule and Water Use Policy that was adopted in 2020 by the Board.
