Over the last couple of weeks our District has experienced serve rain events resulting in street flooding. The entirety of the storm sewer system is designed to handle a 2-year event. Anything beyond that is designed to pond water in the streets and activates the sheet flow of cascading highs and lows in the streets to route the ponding water toward additional inlets and the lakes/drainage outfall.
During a rainfall event, if the street flooding is quickly gone after the rainfall event this demonstrates that the storm and streets are functioning as designed.
